Bio
The Academy of Music was founded by Shawn and Donna Coughlin in 1990 offering in home instruction on the piano and guitar throughout the city of Winnipeg. Since then, it has expanded to offer on line music instruction and now includes voice, drums strings, brass & woodwind lessons!
Shawn operates the company’s day to day operations acting as the companies music director having 40 years of teaching experience! He was classically trained through the Royal Conservatory of Music piano program and is also well versed in jazz and contemporary styles. Shawn is also a former junior high and high school music teacher, a professional pianist, accompanist, composer, choir director as well as a certified piano tuner technician! Most of all Shawn loves being the music director of the Academy of Music!
